Exercise has pulled me out of some heavy times in my life and it’s built a solid resilience from the daily mental and physical push! Just to be clear - exercise IS NOT therapy and it can become unhealthy if you put yourself in a deeper hole and you’re constantly training at a high intensity — which causes more stress to the body. We live in a world that’s saturated with quick fixes: “take this and you’ll feel X” “buy this and you’ll feel X” “take this pill and you’ll lose weight” “take this pill for anti depressants” Why aren’t we saying: “wake up and stretch your body for 10mins every single day day” “lift weights minimum twice a week for min 6 months” “go for a walk minimum 2-3 times a week” “challenge yourself physically and mentally minimum once a week” ……and if you still need medication for antidepressants (cause yes, some cases do and it’s a real thing) then follow through! You underestimate the power of a workout cause our society manipulates you into thinking you’re more ill than you really are. And with everything at your fingertips (online shopping, Uber, Amazon) for some twisted reason you think your mental health should be fixed and delivered overnight too! Who was told to keep their mouths shut as kids? “Loose lips sink ships” But then you piece it all together and you realise that all the abuse you endured was not ok - you start speaking up, you find your voice, you start asking questions, you start to pull back, you get told to stop making things up, you then have family contacting you asking for more details - and you still get reprimanded RATHER THAN acknowledged for having the courage for speaking up!! Yep!! That was me 👋 So instead of: keeping your mouth shut and sweeping it under the rug like everyone else, and only to protect others in the family (or insert whoever) you *politely* hand them the sticky tape 💥 There’s no excuse for abuse and we should no longer have to hide this in families and that’s why YOU ARE THE CYCLE BREAKER!!!!!! One HARD TRUTH about TRAUMA SURVIVORS! ➡️FOLLOW @strengthintrauma for more info on breaking family cycles! (Back story: I’ve grown up in family domestic violence have turned my life around and I help others do the same! I speak from lived experiences and the training and education I’ve developed over the years). I understand this is a controversial topic, and others may have a different opinion, but I’m not here to people please - I’m here to speak the truth / and my truth. Given the experience of working with trauma survivors over the years (and being a trauma survivor myself) there is 1 common denominator…. We were ONCE all victims. BUT we are NOT victims forever. The more you keep telling yourself the same story over and over the more it becomes your reality. When I counsel survivors we focus on getting back their power and control back (within their comfort abilities) - because when in a victim mindset we actually still give the power and control to the abuser/perpetrator. Even if it has been so many years from an ‘event’ The longer we stay in the victim mindset the longer the perpetrator has the power. Take responsibility for how you feel, ownership of your life and take BACK YOUR POWER and watch yourself go from survivor to thriver!!!!! No one wants to be honest with you because they are afraid of hurting your feelings - it’s a touchy subject right?? And really… who are we to tell you to stop living in victimhood… BUT I can promise you this - when you are ready, you will see it, you will connect the dots and you will be grateful and feel empowered to cut that ball and chain and live your life without all the labels. Growing up with abuse taught me so many lessons, as tough as it was I’m very grateful for my experience! If this resonates with you be sure to follow @strengthintrauma for information on how to break family cycles - cause that! I know all too well! Growing up in family domestic violence was NEVER easy, you never knew when shit was gonna hit the fan, (or somehow you did know cause you could sense every mood) I mostly lived in fear, and I never knew when it was going to stop/or ever end… Here’s 5 things I’ve learnt from growing up with an abusive father: 1. Solid as f*ck resilience/and mental fortitude - I’ve endured so many challenges and have been able to push through no matter how many times I was knocked down (emotionally, verbally - and still to this point in my life today - I’m able to handle most challenges). 2. A deep sense of connection - I longed for this as a kid, what I thought was connection was far from it so it’s something I cherish in my life now and am able to cultivate deep connections. 3. Independence - I often felt lonely so I had to navigate life’s challenges on my own, this doesn’t help with being able to ask for help but I’ve gotten so much better at asking when I need it. 4. Emotional intelligence- living with abuse made me mange my emotions (often controlled) but gave me an ability to recognise my own emotions and detect it in others. 5. Advocacy- this experience has pushed me to stand up for myself and have a voice for others — the positive experiences I’ve had in my life because of this will never be forgotten. BONUS: violence does not mean someone loves you! This is NOT OK! I am no longer attached to my childhood and have found peace with my past a long time ago - my experiences have turned into the greatest lessons and these lessons have become life-changing! Just calling it for what it is! Not everything is a trauma response, not everything means your nervous system is dysregulated, nor does it mean you need the next Nervous System Reset Program! I feel like the ‘wellness world’ of social media even down to practitioners are “over analysing” and “over diagnosing” the masses — and now the masses are starting to think they’re worse off, or they need to book in with Tom, Dick and Susie cause they feel like “said emotion” definitely comes from childhood… Look, I grew up in family domestic violence and have worked through A LOT of trauma, I’ve also had to reset my nervous system to feel safe and secure to get out of fight, flight and freeze response - AND I’ve dealt with patients for several years working through trauma!! I’m seeing some pretty big calls on this app about healing trauma in 30 days, reset your nervous system in 21 days with “X” program! I get people have good intentions - but we’re so far away from knowing our true selves we run to this app like it’s the f*cking god send of all ‘mental health issues’ If you’ve been through trauma, adversity and are experiencing real mental health issues please see a practitioner who you know is legitimately qualified and trained in the area you’re seeking help.! Not just some viral video that now offers a “30 day program” that claims to be healed! Healing from trauma takes time, it’s deep deep work, normally requires multiple modalities - and yes, potentially movement throughout your body - but NOT rocking your hips side to side for 30 days and then BOOM “all trauma is gone” 🤥 this MIGHT release tension but it’s not the one and only healing modality for trauma or for setting the nervous system. Keep this in mind, in the words of @drjamesdinic Natural antidepressants: - sunshine - laughing - lifting weights - playing a sport - physical connection - walk of jog - oceans, lakes, rivers Go get it family, go within, be bigger than your excuses and stop looking externally to fix your ‘problems’, get the right people in your corner and propel your life forward 💥 #mentalhealthissues #healingfromtrauma #childhoodtrauma

Pull out your pen and paper! I’ve got you with these deeper journal prompts!🔥 When you stay curious to yourself and your own journey you can block out the noise around you and go within! Depends where you’re at on your healing journey but the “deepening” to self can always be improved. I always like to get my patients/clients to ask themselves some deeper questions - this allows for curiosity, answers, uncertainty, emotions to arise, body movements to tune into and self-discovery. Here are another 5 deeper questions you can ask yourself. Remember to SAVE THIS REEL so you’ve got the questions: 1. In what ways do I sabotage my own happiness, and what fears or insecurities drive these self-destructive behaviours? 2. How has the narrative of my past traumas shaped my sense of identity, and what aspects of this narrative am I ready to redefine? 3. What unmet needs from my childhood am I still trying to fulfill in my adult relationships, and how can I address them more effectively? 4. What parts of myself have I disowned or rejected, and how can I integrate and embrace all aspects of who I am? 5. What role does vulnerability play in my life, and am I willing to allow myself to be seen authentically, flaws and all? I encourage you to get out a pen and paper/or your journal and write down these questions, answer them truthfully on your own. These journal prompts will allow you to connect deeper to yourself, understand yourself a bit more and ultimately empower you to take the steps you need to, to move forward. These prompts alone won’t heal childhood trauma but they will encourage reflection. And sometimes we need to look into our own shadows and see how we’re self-sabotaging ourselves! Shadow work can really be so beneficial - there’s so much more to it than just 5 questions though….. Give these a go and let me know how you go! Anyone else sick of all the “over diagnosis” here on this app? I saw a video recently about decorating your home meant you’ve got a dysregulated nervous system 🙀 And all the videos and info out there about rocking your hips and it’ll heal your trauma 🤔 Seriously people! This shit does more damage! We’re so quick to label and manipulate the masses into thinking they’re worse off than what they really are! Give VALID ‘suggestions’ rather than labelling Karen and Nancy down the road who just wanna jump on here for a bit of fun - now they think they’re nervous system is out of whack cause they moved shit around their house - or bloody Susan who now rocks her hips side to side then wonders why all her trauma didn’t ‘suddenly disappear’ Geeeez Louise!!!!! What you doing out here? 😳 🚩Not everything is a trauma response 🚩And just cause you’re eye twitched doesn’t mean your nervous system needs the next reset program! 🙏🏽Please for the love of god stop labelling the masses for your own selfish intentions! I want to be able to empower you to ‘heal’ yourself! We truly are more powerful than we realise and I’m not one to beat around the bush — eg: if I can get you to do your own inner work simply by seeing something that I post and it just ‘clicks’ with you — then that’s awesome! Sadly, I see too many on here constantly fear mongering people about trauma and all of a sudden you think you’re way more messed up than you really are!! We have the ability and power to go within ourselves to do our ‘own’ work — yes, there’ll be people who come into your life that will be able to pull it out of you — but what they’re doing is creating a safe space for you to go within!! Here are 5 DEEP journal questions to ask yourself to go right in there: 1. What pain am I carrying from my past and how is it effecting my present? 2. Am I allowing myself to grieve losses? Or am I suppressing emotions to avoid pain? 3. What patterns from my past am I unconsciously repeating? And why? 4. How do I define love? And do I believe I am deserving of it? 5. What aspects of my identity have I neglected or denied due to external expectations? **always ask yourself why/why not at the end to go even deeper** Write down these journal prompts and see what comes up for you. On your own, no one around and FEEL into it all! Feel every emotion, expression and movement within your body - tune into your soul ❤️‍🩹 Is this supportive? Don’t get me wrong here, these are REAL issues and some therapists on here are really bringing some informal information in these areas👏🏽👏🏽 But it becomes an issue where you’ve got people now self diagnosing themselves cause of what they’ve ‘seen’ here on IG - I like to call it “INSTA-THERAPY” Sadly, people are becoming attached to these labels and forgetting about focusing on their lives off the app - they are becoming so self absorbed within their own ‘stuff’ they stop living and they start labeling - which leads to overthinking, procrastination and believe it or not anxiety! Let’s take it back to basics: Have you drank water today? Did you get a good nights sleep? Did you get outside today? Did you exercise/move your body today? Have you got warmth? Have you got shelter? People be out here diagnosing themselves when they haven’t even laid their foundation! You’re not putting the roof on when you haven’t laid the floors!! Strip it back and build from there! There’s a difference between taking accountability and the action that’s going to move you forward AND sitting in your own pity party! Flip your script: turn your badge of honour into “I overcame deep hardship and I am now thriving, I have nothing but peace in my life and I deserve to be here” But you might say: “but Darcia, what I went through was so bad and I just can’t seem to get out of it” And I will say: “I get that, you have every right to feel that way, no it was not fair, but you have the responsibility to do what it takes now to take your power and control back so it no longer controls you” You then say “well how?” I say, by focusing on this, in this order: 1. physiological needs (food, water, shelter, warmth) 2. safety needs (security, safety) 3. belongingness and love needs (friends, intimate r’ships) 4. esteem needs (prestige, feelings of accomplishment) 5. self-actualisation (achieving full potential, creative activities) These are broken up into 3 categories: 1. Basic needs (1&2) 2. Psychological needs (3&4) 3. Self-fulfilment needs (5) If you are trying to fulfil your self-actualisation needs first but your basic needs (food, water, shelter, warmth) aren’t met you won’t have great luck. Whilst this is not the only answer to help you feel unstuck it is a GREAT START! This is generally speaking: there are different models and modalities that can be applied and it depends where you’re at on your journey as to what approach will suit you best! Because you’ve given WAAAAAY too much thought to that story/narrative that’s gone on in your head - AND because you may have felt a threat/or unsafe these thoughts have popped up! Just remember this is a natural response and you’re not the only one this happens to - so no, you’re not f*cked up! Now how do you get out of this - well firstly you’ve just got to accept it and then take SMALL actions: ie move the f*ck on with your day!!!! I don’t expect you to understand this but I have a deep sense of gratitude for the abuse I witnessed as a kid. I grew up in family domestic violence and I saw things where I thought my mums life was going to be ended! This was just one scenario - the other times my dad would always threaten to take my mums life and “get rid of her now” — as he would say. I was just 10 years old when I saw my dad strangle my mum. I’ve been able to work on myself since the age of about 17 years old when I left home and the one thing that kept me solid and grounded was exercise! At times, exercise was a punishment but it helped me grow a lot of strength, resilience, self-respect and self-love. Here’s what I encourage you to do if you’ve been through adversities in life: - lift weights (and at times train at high intensity) - read books (deeply immerse yourself into books in all areas that elevate your life) - stop hanging around the sheep (people who follow people) - find the lions, and hang around them (where are the ppl who are going to support you and elevate you - find them, learn from them and propel your life) - stay away from alcohol and drugs - get outside in the sun, water, and nature - find someone you trust who you can share your adversities with, someone who can hold space for you without judgement - find a community, (something that is healthy, uplifting and positive) - and don’t ever ever give up You’re worthy of living an amazing life despite what you’ve been through! I was born into the world with a disadvantage (but, that’s if I want to believe that story right) — if I can do it so can you! All those things I mentioned is exactly what I did to turn my life around - I wasn’t always on track, I made many f*ck ups, have taken my share of drugs and alcohol, have self sabotaged and have been around the sheep — but deep down I know my purpose is greater than those things and that fire burns inside cause I NEVER want a life of what my childhood was like! Feeling stuck? Most will get stuck in life and not live the life they’ve wanted to after trauma! So, why is that? Because you keep doing the same things expecting a different result. Clearly, if the things you were doing were helping you, you wouldn’t still be unhappy on the inside or repeating the same old patterns. So, how do you fix this. It’s simple - try a different route. If you’re still going out and drinking - don’t do it. If you’re eating shit food - don’t eat it. If you’re not exercising or moving your body - try exercising and move your body. If you’re staying inside - get outside in the sun. Write down the exact patterns you are repeating and write down another 5 positive patterns you can implement into your life so it’s not on repeat. And if you still feel like you’re stuck and you are taking action toward change seek a professional for help - so you can adopt different therapy modalities. Using exercise as your therapy - but you still feel like shit inside? Exercise is not the answer to all your problems, just like drugs and alcohol aren’t the answer to your problems! I use to punish myself with exercise and still be riddled with chaos internally - that’s because I hadn’t dealt with my childhood! Healing childhood trauma takes more than exercising, eating well and talking to a therapist. It can be a combination of both…..and other things…and when you find the therapist who can open your can of worms but nurture you - you will be on your way quicker than you think. Exercise WILL build confidence, it will help you get stronger internally and externally, it will help you set stronger boundaries, it will help you to surround yourself with other likeminded people — but it is not the ONLY way.. As a counsellor, I input a holistic approach, my patients are either already training or they start training when they join my services. I write them individualised programs to suit their situation and we take into account their history of trauma and do what needs to be done! You’re the problem child aren’t you? The one always getting in trouble, always being blamed, always being picked on, siblings always accusing you, always at the other end of ‘their’ anger, their punching bag!!! I get it! Cause they could see I was perhaps “different” to the rest it triggered them….and who you gonna take it out on?? You’ve got to find someone!! So, rather than your story becoming “I was the problem child, it was always my fault” let’s flip that and say “I was the one who challenged their deep insecurities and fears” “It’s because I am strong and powerful they didn’t know how to handle my true strength - so them controlling me was their best” “I seemed to be the problem because I am the one who’s speaking up” “I no longer conform to the image I was perceived as, because of those experiences it has shaped me but it does not define me” LFG RIIIIGHHHTTT! Have you ever been told to “get over your trauma?” This can be so triggering, disheartening and another reason why you won’t share what’s going on for you! This can have many knock on effects - without realising the damage that can be done! I like to use the analogy of if someone had a car accident - we wouldn’t expect them to just “get over it” we know it’ll take time, healing and support! Recovering from trauma is the exact same - we just don’t see the physically scars — but they are just impactful - if not, more for trauma survivors - depending the situation! So, whether you are recovering from trauma or you are supporting someone’s recovery - remember there is no timeline for healing - it is up to the individual ❤️

Alright, don’t come at me here! I totally understand how some may take this personally but I’m not here to live my life based off of your feelings. I’m here to encourage you to flip your script and live the most incredible life despite what you’ve been through! Even if it means tough conversations and honest feedback. What gives me the strength to put these statements out there? I was raised in an abusive household, I was exposed to a large amount of violence - I saw my mum being held up against the fridge being strangled — thinking she was going to die - I was ONCE a victim! My experiences have put me here today: working as a counsellor specialising in overcoming past traumas. I know first hand what it takes and I also know the damage of what happens when you identify with being the victim your whole life. This can sound harsh and I don’t expect you to fully understand it right now. But, please know this: you are way more capable of what you think, what happened to you is not your fault but you are responsible with how you choose to live your life (now). I see far too many victims not know what to do to move on and this can be crippling. To unleash yourself of the imprisonment we can hold ourselves captive in you’ve got to flip your script, take back your power, take control and find an inner strength that NO ONE can take away from you! This is exactly what I work on with my patients and I see women break cycles, and go from survivor to thriver in under 3 months! Look I know we all want saved… I had a counselling session yesterday and I could hear my patient just wants saving — it would take all the ‘problems’ away. But if our life’s journey was about being hand held the whole way through what are you going to learn? What lessons will you get? Would you be fulfilled? Would you feel like you truly accomplished something? Probably not! But hey, some people might! 🤷🏼‍♀️ So, instead of agreeing with my patient and saying “yes, that is what’s going to happen” I laid it out straight! “NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE YOU!” In order for you to live an amazing life it is going to take every ounce of strength to get up, do the work, do hard things, push through challenges, ask more of yourself, try different approaches, fail, get back up again, get honest, have tough conversations…..I could go on! If it were easy, we’d all be doing it right! The harsh truth can really piss you off cause it’s NOT what you WANT to hear but it is what you NEED to hear! Are you sick of labelling yourself with all these “potential issues?” I feel ya! In a world where now we somehow think it’s valid to come here to IG go to a few therapists pages and all of a sudden we’ve now “diagnosed” ourselves with the “thing” that everyone is now talking about…… Some of these things include: - anxiety - depression - ADHD - CPTSD - high functioning depression - dysregulated nervous system - everything you experience is a trauma response ….just to name a few Here’s the thing!! You may resonate with some of the information that is put out there, and you may notice some patterns within yourself but please do not label yourself or self diagnose yourself from instagram! To truly see what is going on for you and your personal experiences seek professional help by spending time with a therapist who specialises in the area you “might” want to explore. Now, I’m not saying the information you consume isn’t useful. I’m saying don’t keep putting all these labels to your name cause no doubt you’ll think you’re worse off than what you really are! Therapy is a process - it does not involve watching a 10 second clip about “insert condition” and all of a sudden you’re “healed”. There’s more to it.. Mental health is not a trend!!!! Look, I’m not against these - I just feel like sometimes we can get caught up in “healthy wellness habits” aka “spiritual junkie” thiiiiiiings and miss the actual point of healing! When I say within I mean - reflect on your insecurities, fears, triggers, core beliefs, patterns, actions, behaviours — and then once you’ve taken a ‘surface’ look at those…. Look at them again, and again, and again —- you will see these will come from ‘somewhere’ in your past. .. It runs deeper than “looking good” I started running when I was a kid - I later pieced together I was doing this as a coping mechanism to deal with what was going on at home - domestic and family violence. I discovered a love for training - this training has turned into lifting weights for many years, competing in the highest level of CrossFit, becoming a personal trainer/coach for 17 years and a multitude of other experiences with fitness. I had a subconscious drive to build my physique as strong as possible - in case, one day, I had to take on my dad. I use to punish myself in the gym - thrived on pushing myself mentally and physically- and still do. But now, I have an appreciation for what my body and mind can do. Training is and will be a huge part of my life. Those who’ve experienced childhood trauma will express their traumas in different ways. Whilst this coping mechanism is a healthy one - at times it can still do damage. High intensity training is not what the body needs when it’s in high stress. However, moving your body in some capacity WILL have huge benefits to your mental health — to get to the root cause of the trauma will require different approaches to see what works best for you. Training won’t do this alone - but it’s a great start if other alternatives are not an option for you at the moment. 6 things that’s making your healing worse: 1- Taking no responsibility: what happened to you is NOT your fault BUT it is your responsibility of the quality of life you live. 2. Consuming unnecessary content on social media. Like this post if it’s NOT your jam! When you consume you presume you have it all figured out. Take social media breaks so it doesn’t affect your mental health. 3. Fixating on your childhood - do the work that needs to be done to move on. The more you fixate on it the further you’ll dig - when at times, it’s not necessary. 4. Always self-absorbed - “me me me” mindset. 5. Self-neglect - poor sleep, poor nutrition, lack of movement/exercise. Go to bed earlier, make ‘better’ food choices and move your body. Doesn’t matter what it is - just move - and push through the ‘hard’ feelings! 6. Isolation - avoiding people and places. There may be times where you want to be on your own - awesome! But find a network, community, or say YES to a social event. These are not intended for anyone in particular and you don’t have to over analyse your current situation. When you’ve grown up in a home environment of abuse and your life’s mission is to break the cycle and when you have your own kids - you “yell” at your kid and it instantly makes you feel like a shit parent and that you’ve repeated the cycle 🙋🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ Yep! That’s me! I’ve done it! And I beat myself up massively about it! I too, seek professional help to manage this - among other things because I know firsthand what it’s like breaking generational trauma - but I’m not perfect. And neither are you. You may yell - that’s ok. But what matters most is how you REPAIR after you’ve yelled! I have gone to my daughter in the past and said “I’m sorry for yelling, I can see that it scared you, I am in control of my emotions, it’s not your fault, I will do better next time” With those words - it means more than we can ever imagine. Do you ever hear this from your parents? I never did! It was more like “shut up and don’t say anything” “keep your mouth shut, go to your room” Moral of the story - you’re human, you’re learning how to be your ‘best’ parent on the fly cause no one taught you how to be emotionally vulnerable and connected. You’re going to make ‘mistakes’. If we teach our kids how to REPAIR this will set them up for ‘better’ experiences in life/and relationships. Ever get caught up on other peoples trauma journeys you end up spending more time following theirs than what you do working on your own personal healing? Yep! I said it! Whilst it’s great to be inspired and empowered by others stories and how they’ve overcome hardship don’t forget to look in your own reflection and spend time studying yourself, your experiences and doing your work to break free of the cycles! Something I’ve been applying everyday for the last 3 weeks has been ‘mirror work’ - let’s not overcomplicate it here. All you need to do is look at yourself in the mirror, repeat positive affirmations to yourself/a mantra/maybe sit in silence, give yourself a hug say I love you over and over and move on with your day ✌🏽 But in all seriousness, when was the last time you did this? Have you ever done something like this? It’s something I’ll get my patients to do (if it requires purpose) and yes, it’ll feel uncomfortable to start with but like anything, it gets easier and easier! A reframe I use with my patients👇🏽 They say “I have anxiety” OR “I have depression” I say…..without giving all the context as everyone has their own unique stories and experiences I will work with them to reframe their story, their language, their labels, their attachments….. This can also come down to the severity of each individual too. If someone is on medication - it can be a different approach. If someone has been diagnosed with the ‘above’ it can also be a different approach. As you hear in this video I tend to use language like: “I welcome you, come and sit with me” “I am in control of how I feel today” I also work on giving it another ‘name’ - Hi “A” you show up in my life when “X” happens……etc etc…. You can see here when the language changes so does the story we attach to, we don’t CLAIM it and WEAR it and when we create a r’ship with ‘said label’ we don’t try and suppress it or trick ourselves it’s not there - and then it shows up in other ways later on…. This is a ‘brief’ way of my approach with patients - and to confirm everyone is different and it comes down to the severity of your experience. I have a message for you😍 Thank you for being here! I hadn’t posted on this page for about 4-6months when I started this page. Last year was a big year: taking on more study that became a main priority, a new born, managing my counselling business/clients and we sadly lost someone really close to us. It all became “too much” for me to sustain! I understand what it takes to build an online presence and I really started to build such an incredible community here! Through so many DM’s, comments, voice messages and sharing of content! I appreciate/and appreciated it all! This message is to “reconnect” and take “responsibility” of my own actions/choices! I too am learning along the way ☺️ I also believe in taking breaks here and there with social media so it doesn’t consume our whole lives! Things happen organically — and if you ever pull back in certain areas in your life — know that it’s totally ok as well! I also noticed there’s a lot of “INSTA-THERAPY” going around and I have sat with this term for a while - and I’m finding my groove that’s authentic to me, my brand and the community I create! I’m conscious of not falling down the trap of “online therapy” — (as theres no one size fits all - everyone is unique and have different life experiences) there’s a lot of click bait around it - which personally, I don’t feel comfortable about! Try this ritual to help with healing, it’s called: NATURE NURTURING 🌱 🪴 tending to a small indoor plant: verbalise (internal or external) your gratitude toward the plant, let the plant know you are giving it water to drink, taking care of it so it can grow and thrive ☁️ observe the clouds: what do you see, what shapes, does it take you back to a moment/experience ? 🌬️ feel the wind/breeze on your skin: ask yourself: how does this feel? Where do I feel the wind on my body - observe what your body is doing 🌊 swim in the ocean: give thanks to Mother Earth for blessing your skin with the ocean.. How does the ocean/water make you feel? These are just a few ways to connect to the present moment, but more importantly connect to your(self). When we go through trauma we feel disconnected to our bodies - this is one way we can reconnect. INNER PEACE ☮️ Finding peace isn’t something that happens outside of you - it’s an internal ‘job’ If chaos is happening around you - how are you in those moments? Are you losing it? Here’s an approach you can take towards healing trauma! Remember you are not stuck or trapped, you can make radical changes - yes, it takes time, yes, it takes confronting it, yes, it takes trial and errors to see what works for you - but it CAN be done. How you perceive your experiences can be the difference between breaking cycles or not (inclusive of doing the internal work and seeking professional support). Credit vs Debt when it comes to counselling/mental health.. Credit = inner work, sessions with a therapist, exercise, quality sleep, nutrition, surrounded by high quality people, nature, stillness, mediation/journalling if that’s your thing……doing things that’s healthy - holistically… Debt = toxic behaviour, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, drugs, alcohol, constant fatigue/burn out, mindless scrolling, victim mindset, lack of exercise/movement… The more you choose ‘debt’ the more ‘arrears’ you’ll find yourself in - hence why you feel in constant vicious cycles! Start living your life in credit - and watch how things change - energetically! You can’t keep living in debt and expect to be abundant with all this credit (aka wellness). When you’ve experienced trauma in your life you will often feel like you are constantly in survival mode, just getting by, having feelings of overwhelm — and moments where it’ll feel like it’s overpowering you. In my sessions with clients instead of unpacking the ‘stuff’ all at once which will only create more overwhelm and potentially retraumatise you……I take a different approach…. Think of trauma like scrunched up newspapers (with your story) and what you’ve tried to do over the years is throw the newspaper in the bin by: alcohol, drugs, relationships, food, exercise, yoga, podcasts…….ie: doing all the things to ‘try’ make it go away… BUT - what I do to help my clients is we pull ONE of those pieces of newspapers out and we read what’s on there eg: the situation, how you felt, how it impacts you now, we name people, we name feelings/emotions, we speak the truth around the information to what’s on that newspaper and apply what methods work best for the individual. And then…..once dealt with, we neatly fold that piece of newspaper, with the NEW INFO on it and we fold that one away. And then next time, we pull the next piece of scrunched up newspaper out and we take a look at what’s written on that….and follow the same process. All of a sudden all those scrunched up newspapers that were overflowing internally are now nicely folded with new words/meanings/information on them and tucked away. We now have a better relationship with the “trauma” and it no longer controls us - WE took control of “IT” And now the MAGIC! I was scared to post this cause of what people would think of me. But I told myself I’m not here to plead to others feelings and emotions. I’m here to make an impact and leave a legacy. I too, have been through enough tough shit in my life to not live happy, with love and the peace I have now. My clients come from all types of abuse as a child and as an adult, past drug addictions, suffering anxiety and depression, disorders…you name it! We get to the root cause! We take OWNERSHIP and CONTROL on what we CAN control… And maaaaan I see so many lives being turned around. Exercise & Trauma ➡️SHARE this reel⬅️ As we all know exercise/fitness/movement is a healthy habit in all lives whether you’ve experienced trauma or not. Exercise helps with staying in a healthy shape for you and your body size/shape, minimises health risks, increases bone density, longevity, confidence, endorphins, physical strength, mental strength……..we know all these things right??? So, why is it beneficial for those who’ve experienced trauma to exercise/lift weight? It helps gain control over one’s body/mind when it was once stripped away, emotional expression and release, cognitive distraction and enhanced focus, resilience building and seeing one’s own worth and value…the list can go on… It its NOT the only way to ‘help’ heal trauma. You cannot rely solely on exercise to heal trauma - and just like anything. There are multiple methodologies that contribute to healing trauma. However, its a bloody good starting point for someone to start their healing journey though….. Exercise combined with different therapies, nutrition dense foods, nature, stillness and quality sleep!!!!!! Show up for YOU - even if you don’t feel like it! There’ll be days/times where you feel like crap, you’re stuck in a victim mindset, you’re self absorbed in your own stuff and all you want to do is wallow - this is OK until it’s NOT! What I mean: it’s ok to wallow and feel like shit - but if you continue to do this, you’ve lost power and control - and all the things you’ve worked hard in to overcome can now have way more power over you than you realise (in a negative way). When you pull all your layers back and get to the root cause of your ‘issue’ a typical ‘answer’ is a lack of self-worth and value - feeling like you’re not good enough. Essentially, what you’re saying to yourself is - the younger you is STILL not good enough to live an amazing life……..ohhh daaamnnn that’s deep! So, please, show up and do what needs to be done in order to make ‘little you’ feel loved, safe and secure! Where in your life are you handing over your power and control to your partner, parents, friends….(fill in your person) When someone has the power of your emotional state it frames you as the victim and you can end up in a downward spiral - and whilst the ‘other’ person may need to take responsibility so do you. It’s easy to fall into traps and highlight what the other person isn’t doing to acknowledge you/serve you/validate you — so next time you feel this happening tune into what your thoughts are saying - is it all about the other person - or is it all about how you’re empowering yourself to take control of the situation…? Prove to yourself you can speak up, you can make decisions, you can ask for what you want, you can set a boundary, you can say how you’d like to be treated, you can say what emotion you’re feeling, you can, you can….YOU CAN!!!! What I’ve written in this reel comes from what I worked on with a client recently —- we were speaking about the impact our parents have on us. And my client said “I love her from a distance” “can handle her from a distance” along with some other things. I then said: Yes, that’s true. You can. However, it doesn’t matter how much distance you try and create (this person) still owns your power and control and you are still taking conscious and unconscious actions that this person has programmed in you over the years. The manipulation and control is still showing up - so let’s really look at what that “distance” is because they’re a lot closer than you think! And boom 💥 light bulb 💡 moment! One area I focus on with clients is looking at what their core beliefs are - and how they make an impact in our lives. We make conscious and unconscious decisions based on our core beliefs - so if we know it is unhealthy or not serving us in the most ultimate way then we need to look at redesigning our core beliefs. As mentioned in this video - if you believe all marriages fail you will find the evidence to make this true (either by what you consume or how you may self sabotage a r’ship/marriage). And vice versa, if you believe all marriages are successful you will find evidence to suit that belief. And I don’t mean just voicing it - I mean TRULY BELIEVING “IT” If you are aware you have core beliefs that are driven out of fear, conditioning, programming, generational trauma passed down and you’re looking to “change” it then start looking at your core beliefs and the story you are telling yourself about it. Give yourself a “new belief” (typically the complete opposite of the statement) and look for the evidence to support it. Eg: all marriages are successful - surround yourself with others who are happily married, who’ve been through so much together, have worked through the hardships and have been together for 30/40+ years, read success stories —- do the groundwork to support your belief so it becomes your reality. Ps - using marriage as it’s a simple analysis we can all relate to (in some way or another - also clearing up I am not talking about ‘staying’ in marriages for the sake of, or if there is abuse - that wouldn’t fall under the point of this message). INVISIBLE CHILDHOOD TRAUMA SIGNS 🌱 5 invisible signs that show up as childhood trauma: 1. Hypervigilance: Being on high alert or constantly feeling anxious, as if expecting danger or harm. 2. Emotional dysregulation: Experiencing intense or unpredictable emotions that are difficult to manage or control. 3. Dissociation: Experiencing episodes of disconnect or detachment from one’s thoughts, emotions, or surroundings as a coping mechanism to escape distressing memories or emotions. 4. Chronic self-blame: Continuously blaming oneself for negative events or situations, even when not at fault, due to deep-seated feelings of guilt. 5. Difficulty with intimacy: Struggling to form close, trusting relationships or experiencing challenges with emotional vulnerability and intimacy due to fear of being hurt or betrayed. Its important to note these signs are not the same for everyone. Everyone’s journey is different - it’s not a one size fits all when it comes to childhood trauma + healing.
